Terms of Use
The rules for using Lumen and this website, written to be read rather than skimmed.
1. About these terms
These terms apply to the Lumen app for macOS and to this website. Lumen (listed on the Mac App Store as "Lumen: Live Wallpapers") is developed and published by Backstreet Ventures Private Limited, a company incorporated in India, located at J304, Konark Orchid, Gat No 905;906;926;1085, Vagholi, Pune, Maharashtra 412207, India ("we", "us"). By downloading or using Lumen, or using this website, you agree to these terms.
2. Your licence to use Lumen
Lumen is distributed through the Mac App Store. Your licence to use the app is granted under Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Apple EULA"), which applies between you and us. These terms add detail on topics the Apple EULA does not cover. If anything here conflicts with the Apple EULA, the Apple EULA prevails for the app.
In short, you may use Lumen on any Apple-branded Mac that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store's Usage Rules. You may not copy, resell, rent, reverse engineer or redistribute the app, except as allowed by law.
Apple is not responsible for Lumen or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. Questions, complaints or claims about Lumen should be directed to us.
4. What Lumen changes on your Mac
So there are no surprises, Lumen does the following, and only after you choose to apply a wallpaper:
- Stores its own files (downloaded clips, prepared videos, thumbnails, still frames and settings) in its own folder in your Library.
- Saves a copy of your current desktop wallpaper, then sets its own still frame as your desktop picture and draws the live wallpaper above it.
Nothing that belongs to Apple is deleted or overwritten. Restore My Wallpaper reverse these changes. Future macOS updates may change how the system handles wallpapers, which could affect how Lumen works; we will do our best to keep up.
5. Footage and credits
The wallpapers in Lumen's library are third-party footage, used under open licences and fetched directly from each provider. The footage belongs to its creators, and those licences continue to apply to it. Each wallpaper shows its credit inside the app.

The full credit line for every clip is listed on the footage credits page. Some space clips are artist's impressions or animations; their titles say so. Lumen never plays a clip's soundtrack. No endorsement by any footage provider, or by the agencies and people credited, is implied.
Because footage is hosted by its providers, individual wallpapers may become unavailable if a provider moves or removes a file. If you believe any footage in Lumen infringes your rights, write to advait8989@gmail.com and we will review and, where appropriate, remove it promptly.
6. Videos you add
You may use your own video files as wallpapers. You are responsible for having the right to use any video you add. Your videos stay on your Mac; we never receive them and claim no rights in them.
7. Acceptable use
Please do not use Lumen or this website to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, or to interfere with the footage providers' servers, for example by automated bulk downloading outside the app.
8. Ownership
The Lumen app, its name, icon, interface and this website's design and text are owned by Backstreet Ventures Private Limited and protected by copyright and other laws. These terms do not give you any rights in them beyond the licence described above.
9. Trademarks
Apple, the Apple logo, Mac, macOS and Mac App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries and regions. App Store is a service mark of Apple Inc. Lumen is an independent app; it is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Apple Inc. Other names and marks belong to their respective owners.
10. Disclaimer
Lumen is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we make no warranties beyond those set out in the Apple EULA, and we do not promise that Lumen will be uninterrupted, error-free or compatible with every future version of macOS. Some countries do not allow certain warranties to be excluded, so some of this may not apply to you.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of Lumen or this website. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Lumen. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, or affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
12. Changes to Lumen and these terms
We may update Lumen and these terms from time to time. When we change these terms, we will update this page and the effective date below. Continuing to use Lumen after a change means you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Pune, Maharashtra, India, without affecting any mandatory consumer protection you have under the law of the country where you live. Before taking any formal step, please write to us; most problems can be fixed with a simple email.
